On this tour, Ricardo Fernandes Garcia ’27 will explore how representations of innocence have enabled painters to address conflict and war. The stops on the tour are Winslow Homer’s The Brush Harrow (1865), which depicts a scene from childhood; George Grosz’s Nutcracker (1931), which features a group of toys; and Rufino Tamayo’s Man Searching the Heavens (1949), which suggests the imagination at work.Spotlight Tours offer a chance to explore the collections of the Harvard Art Museums through the eyes of a Harvard student. Free and open to the public, these tours start outside the museum shop on Saturdays and Sundays at 11am and 2pm. Drop in and join the conversation!
