About this Event
Please join us for this beautiful night with Redd and the Paper Flowers and Angel Corsi!
Redd and the Paper Flowers
Redd Daugherty began as a solo artist during the 2020 pandemic, while teaching high school English at L&N STEM Academy in Knoxville, TN. During this time, she appeared on Season 19 of American Idol; released her first, solo album Monsters & Mothers; quit teaching to pursue music full time; and began working alongside her mentor and close friend, Adam Ivy.
Redd met members Gavin Gregg, Katie Adams, and Colleen d'Alelio through friends and at open mics. The group quickly realized they had similar goals and began making and playing music together almost immediately. Founding members of the band Redd and Gavin, recognize and owe initial success to former bassist Will Ross.
The group landed on the band name Redd & the Paper Flowers as Redd still releases solo music. The group is extremely excited to release their first collaborative album in 2023.
Angel Corsi
Angel Corsi is a BIPOC folk/soul artist and former pugilist fighting for his people.
The Colorado-based songwriter's style takes the listeners through contemplative vignettes of humans that have to navigate a range of topics such as, "belonging", "childhood trauma", "forgiving yourself", "systemic and politically charged oppression" and "finding true love" in all of it's forms.
"I think the role of an artist is to find the "resistence," the "wall," and break through that or at very least shine a light on it." -Angel
Angel channels his fighting spirit in each performance. Offering to break his heart & soul apart in listening rooms and storyteller house concerts across the United States, UK, and Canada.
Angel's authenticity is immediately felt through tales of his varied past and cultural clash of life experiences with complex people in complex and sometimes systemic situations. His empathy and intenstiy is felt in full force whether he is screaming and wailing with an electric guitar, that earned Angel the moniker of a "Chicano Bruce Springsteen" or bringing the emotional depth and closeness of a weathered but determined troubadour on acoustic guitar that nods to modern-contempary Americana artists like Jason Isbell or Hiss The Golden Messenger.
Angel's succinct and biting lyrics with a straightforward musical approach, Angel proudly carries the torch of traditional folk, 60s soul, 70s heartland rock and even 90's hiphop. That's what happens when you grow up listening to Ice Cube, Bob Dylan, Sam Cooke, Guiseppe Di Stefano and Los Lobos.
“ Angel Corsi strummed his acoustic guitar, opened his heart and invited us in, taking us on a very personal journey through difficulty and despair, challenges and overcoming, hope, kindness and love; all shared with humility and humor. It was emotional. My heart was deeply touched; laid wide open.” - K. Hall (artist/writer)
