About this Event
Wooden spoons have been used for thousands of years, and you too can carve your very own! There is something quite special about taking a piece of branch or log, and with a few simple tools crafting something beautiful and functional.
There is a bewildering amount of information on-line about how to carve a spoon, and lots of differing approaching to teaching spoon carving. On this course we take a simple approach with the emphasis being on learning the basics and everyone completing at least one spoon. For those wishing to continue spoon carving at home this course will get you started, and allow you to build your skills and develop an approach that works for you!
This course is suitable for beginners (18+), and will provide you with the basics to have a go back home. You will be taught the safe use of tools, but please be aware that working with any edge tools presents an element of risk. Please get in touch should you wish to discuss a younger person taking part, before booking.
This is a great way to unwind, connect with nature and explore your more creative side. The course will run from my woodland workshop in Ghyll Wood on the fabulous Wyresdale Park estate. This course will make use of both indoor and outdoor space as the weather dictates, and our wood burner will keep us toasty warm on the coldest of days.
