Step 1: The Adventure Begins!
Grab your map and saddle up—it’s time to head down Trail 1, where the adventure awaits! Follow the moonlit path, and keep an eye on your surroundings—you never know what creatures of the night might be watching! But fear not, your trusty steed will guide you safely to the heart of the woods. (If you do not feel secure riding your horse on the trails at night, feel free to walk to the campfire.)

Step 2: The Glowing Campfire
As you ride through the cool night air, you’ll find the glowing light of our campfire at the marked spot on your map. This is where the fun really begins! DNR staff will be tending to the fire, so feel free to dismount, grab a seat, and settle in for some spooky stories.

Step 3: S’mores & Snacks
Got a sweet tooth? You’re more than welcome to bring s’mores or other treats to roast over the fire! The crackling flames are perfect for cooking up marshmallows or snacking on your favorite campfire goodies. There’s nothing like a warm treat to keep the chills away as the ghost stories begin...

Step 4: Ghost Stories in the Dark
Now that everyone’s gathered around, it’s time to share the ghost stories. This is the perfect moment to spook your fellow riders or listen to hair-raising tales of things that go bump in the night. If you’ve got a chilling story, now’s the time to tell it... but beware, the woods may have stories of their own!

Step 5: The Night Ride Continues... If You Dare
Once the ghost stories have been shared and the s’mores devoured, it’s time to ride deeper into the night. Led by our fearless friends from OREA, we’ll venture down more shadowy trails, with only the moon and your courage to guide the way. Will you be brave enough to explore the darker corners of the forest?

Step 6: Return to the Fire or Head Back to Camp
After the ride, you can return to the safety of the DNR campfire to warm up, share your own stories from the trail, and enjoy the spooky atmosphere. If you’d rather head back to your campsite and call it a night, that’s perfectly fine too! Either way, the fire will be burning and DNR staff will be on-call if you need anything.
