Xue Wang, whose artistic journey began in the world of fashion, brings a uniquely theatrical and nostalgic flair to her paintings. After earning her BA in Fashion in China and an MA in London, her passion for visual storytelling led her to a new creative path: painting. “I see art as a more direct way to express my creative ideas,” she shares — and express them she does, in stunning, surreal detail.
Her work draws deeply from the quirky and the curious: childhood toys, fairy tales, dolls, fun fairs, and vintage fashion. These dreamlike elements intertwine with references to Victorian, pin-up imagery, film iconography, and found objects. The result? A visual feast that is both playful and provocative — the perfect blend of sweetness and strangeness for the Halloween season.
