Join Dash Reimer as he walks you through some intermediate poetry performance techniques he's learned during his decade of experience performing. After some introductory exercises on stage presence/comfort, Dash will be taking you through a collection of performance techniques that will help you step out of cliched vocal deliveries and distracted body language into a more natural and intentional way of sharing your work. The workshop will also explore a few different multi-disciplinary ways of performing. So bring your beautiful words and your brave selves down!*It is not required that workshop attendees have a poetry piece of their own ready to share, but it will make the workshop more effective if you arrive with some writing ready.
Workshops are recommended for people ages 12 and over. Children under 12 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).
The workshop is pay what you can! Suggested $20 - $30 to support facilitator fees and supplies.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
Dash Reimer is an artist and educator based out of Treaty 6 territory in Saskatoon. He is Saskatchewan's 5th Youth Poet Laureate. He works within the worlds of poetry and hip hop and has a decade of experience performing on stages across Turtle Island, North Africa, South Africa and Turkey. He is passionate about community care, grassroots neighborhood movements and baking his friends tasty treats. Dash has been an avid collaborator in playwriting, chapbook making, jazz combos, improv troupes, rap crews and everything in between.

Alcove Centre for the Arts (alcoveartscentre.ca) is a non-profit organization based in Calgary, AB which aims to make art more accessible and promote a vibrant local arts industry. We curate and cultivate community art spaces for Calgarians to engage in art and creativity while building a platform for emerging local artists.
