Course Description:
According to a 2023 Gallup poll about 82% of American say they are religious, spiritual or both1. Spirituality and religion can have a significant impact on how an individual understands and manages their healthcare related needs. Providers and community-based organizations can play a significant role in supporting patients/clients through their healthcare journey while being respectful of individual faith and spiritual traditions. In this course participants will learn about two spiritual assessment tools that can guide their conversations with patients/clients as they seek to build a stronger relationship and further respect for the individuals under their care.
Course Objectives:
1. Explore how spirituality may play a role in patient/client – provider interactions.
2. Review FICA and HOPE spiritual assessment tools and discuss best practices in conducting assessment with diverse populations.

Course meets the qualifications for hours of continuing credit for LCSWs, LMFTs, LPCCs or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
