SPIRITS OF HOPE
A GHOSTLY WALKING TOUR OF DOWNTOWN NEWARK
SATURDAY OCTOBER 25, 2025 FROM 6:30 – 8PM
Our walk is by donation and this year's donations will go to Tala's Closet for victims and survivors of domestic violence. Tala's Closet will provide clothing and personal items to those escaping violence and in transition. Many victims leave with nothing but the clothing on their backs. Some start over with children and very limited resources. Tala’s Closet is one way to help alleviate their stress. The closet is in honor of a life lost to domestic violence in Licking County in March of 2024. Tala Smith was a 21-year-old woman with a huge heart. Her life motto: see a need, fill a need. That is exactly what Tala's Closet is all about.
We will meet on the east side of the Licking County Historic Jail between the jail and the parking garage. The jail is located at 46 South 3rd Street in downtown Newark.
The walk will leave at 6:30ish the evening of Saturday October 25th and travel around the downtown square. We will hear some factual stories about Newark's dark history including the lynching of Carl Etherington and Laura Belle Devlin who murdered and dismembered her husband to the resident ghost at Kicks Mix Bookstore.
