About this Event
In Spiral and Other Stories, Aidan Koch evokes the dynamics and structures of human (and nonhuman) relationships in drawings and writing stitched together through a careful, striking use of color and line. Koch works in sparse, minimalist images whose resistance to floridity nourishes the emotional depth of each frame. The stories in this book examine both domestic and wild spaces and the natural world’s capacity to clarify our lives as it reminds us of its enduring and fragile fiber.
Koch works in fine art as well as in comics. She has had solo exhibitions across the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom, and her art has been displayed in group shows in France, Colombia, Switzerland, Slovenia, and more. She is the founder of the Institute for Interspecies Arts and Relations, which examines humanity’s connection with other species through the context of art, and she has been a visiting teacher in Lisbon, Portugal, Denmark, and Florida. She lives in the Mojave Desert.
