About this Event
Join historian Chris Carr in this workshop as an introduction to the ancient crafts of drop spinning and simple weaving, using a handheld heddle loom.
Over the course of 4 hours you will hear some of the long history of these crafts and learn the basics of how our ancestors used fibres to make textiles. The first half of the workshop will focus on drop spinning using fleece from rare breed sheep to create thread, then weaving thread into textiles using a simple heddle loom to create a bookmark or bracelet.
All equipment and materials are included - and are yours to keep and be taken away afterwards so you can practice afterwards.
Refreshments are provided as part of the session.
No experience necessary, over 16s only. Max 5 people per session.
