& HARRY PRIDER B2B JAMIE'S KITCHEN
Back in Australia for his summer tour, we are excited to team up with the iconic venue Loverboy to welcome the virtuoso of eclectic goodness, Tornado Wallace for our first event of the 2023 calendar.
First blowing a gale as a forerunner of the new wave of Melbourne dance producers, Tornado's distinct and perceptive electronics now find him in a constant rotation of both hemispheres, spending most of the year based in Berlin as one of Australia's most successful contemporary exports.
From formative house beginnings, Tornado's signature big room balearic, twisted disco and trancey rolling DJ sets have secured him in music folklore both locally and globally as a selector of all selectors (just ask anyone who attended his closing set @ Hopkins Creek in 2019).
Tornado's penchant for sample-heavy house, low-slung basslines and frequent Simpsons references find homes on labels such as ESP, Delusions of Grandeur, Second Circle, Beats In Space, Running Back, Instruments of Rapture and Sleazy Beats Recordings, while receiving a constant home in the DJ bags of Andrew Weatherall, Motor City Drum Ensemble and Tim Sweeney. His new EP Dream Corner on Basic Spirit hereos Tornado's recent love for trance and prog whilst his tandem collbaration on the track Kookaburra still remains unmatched.
When he's not producing quality tunes and sinking efes beers on HÖR Berlin, Tornado still plays an integral role within the underground Melbourne clubbing scene, hosting parties and co-running the local promoter agency and label Animals Dancing, who recently welcomed the new year in with a massive two room party with Sleep D, Pender Street Steppers, Otologic, Moopie, Jennifer Loveless, Hybrid, Eden Burns and more.
For a taste of what's to come under the neon lights, see the following links that we have hand selected:
HÖR BERLIN - Boiler Room - Resident Advisor 269 - Dream Corner EP - Discography
Increasing the winds before the Tornado will be none other than Repetetive Bliss (Dan Gill). The local hero and former force behind Groundfloor Radio will be flying home for his first club appearance since his move to Naarm in 2021. No stranger to curating a dancefloor, Dan fits the perfect mould for organising the storm. Some of our favourite updraughts include Ozero 2021 - Silent Palace 40
Rising the air at the start of the night will see the first back to back apperance between Harry Prider, the mayor of the new Adelaide minimal collective Cmmnppl and Spin Lizzy co-owner Jamie's Kitchen. With recent supports for international acts such as Rossi, Markus Homm and Mihai Popoviciu, the two will link grooves to help develop the cloudy atmosphere for the evening.
Spin Lizzy acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which this event will take place, the Kaurna People, and their continuing connection to land, waters and culture.
