This spIN Focus event features the raw, electric blues mastery of Hot Tuna's self-titled debut album. Recorded live at the New Orleans House in Berkeley in 1970, this LP captures Jefferson Airplane members Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady in their element, delivering stripped-down, acoustic guitar and bass brilliance.This record is a showcase of deep-cut blues standards and original compositions, highlighting the effortless chemistry between Kaukonen's nimble fingerpicking and Casady's inventive bass lines. It's an intimate, fiery performance that launched a legendary side project. Join us at The Listyning Room to hear the clarity and power of this early live recording on our world-class sound system. featuring high-end equipment by Audio Note, Klipsch, and Cambridge Audio.
spIN Focus is not an extended presentation. We begin with a brief introduction and then play through of the full album. We open on Saturdays at 1:00 pm for Open Spin (BYO music) and record cleaning. The feature LP spins at 4:00pm.
