SPIKEDRIVERS 1992 ~ 2025
a celebration, an anniversary and a farewell
It is quite amazing to think that this all started way back in 1992. It really has been an unbelievable run of 33 years, but this year, 2025, will be the final year for the Spikedrivers.
A very difficult decision to make, one that I thought over carefully for a long period of time and with much consideration for everyone. As the founding member and leader of the Spikedrivers, I’ve always tried to include all the members in any decisions. However, this one is my own. There is not one single reason for calling it a day, but in my heart, it just feels like the right time.
There have been many different line ups over the years, and all the musicians who have taken part have been a pleasure to play with and have contributed immensely to the band.
2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the longest running line up. Maurice McElroy, Constance Redgrave and I have developed a very special and productive relationship. We’ve shared so many experiences, travelled so many miles, recorded so many albums and shared so many laughs that it definitely feels like a family. I’m extremely grateful for all they have brought to the band, and I’m proud of everything that we have achieved together.
A very special mention also to the latest member of the band, percussionist & vocalist, Roger Nunn. He has been a crucial part of the Spikedrivers for the last 3 years, bringing his infectious rhythms and energy to the band, and he will be a huge part of our final year.
As we all know most bands break up, split up, quit or just kind of fizzle out. Not wanting to do any of those, I decided that the only option is to go out on a high and make this last year a celebration, an anniversary, and a farewell together.
Most important of all is to have the opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us: promoters, venues, sound engineers, journalists, DJs, other musicians and of course all our fans, without whom this wonderful adventure would not have been possible.
