About this Event
Vicarious trauma is the hurt from witnessing and working alongside those who have experienced trauma. This workshop offers a way of understanding vicarious trauma beyond the individual. The content is highly interactive and draws on CASA House’s intersectional and trauma-informed frameworks to support participants to build:
- Foundational knowledge on vicarious trauma and burnout
- Systemic and structural understanding of vicarious trauma
- Strategies for preventing and resisting vicarious trauma
- Structural, professional and organisational approaches
Venue and Catering
Queen Victoria Women's Centre (QVWC) is located at 210 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.
Paid parking is available nearby however, the QV centre is also serviced by many forms of public transport - trains to Melbourne Central, Swanston Street trams and Lonsdale Street buses.
CASA House provides morning and afternoon tea. Training participants are welcome to bring their own lunch or enjoy the selection of food available in the QV food court adjacent to QVWC.

Building access and parking:
- QVWC is wheelchair accessible: There is a ramp on the left side of the front entrance at Lonsdale Street, which leads through to the accessible rear entrance.
- There are multiple accessible bathrooms in the QVWC building (ground level & level 2).
- Short term parking (20 mins) is available at the Lonsdale St entrance.
