Emerging from deep within the Earth’s crust, Spencer Zweifel’s Life or Death Situation delights stranded audiences with a hypnotic marriage of scintillating melody and oppressive soundscapes. Borne of a deep love for jazz, post-rock, and expressionism, Zweifel’s ensemble tackles disparate originals with disarming sincerity. Discerning listeners will detect generous Dave Holland, Chick Corea, and Charles Mingus influences; Non-Discerning listeners will detect generous Volume.
Jonathan Bumpus
Jonathan Bumpus is a trombonist, composer, and educator based in Northern Colorado. He has performed and/or recorded with the Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra, Colorado Jazz Orchestra, Drew Zaremba Jazz Fellowship, David Caffey Jazz Orchestra, and Socrates Garcia Latin Jazz Orchestra. Jonathan was named Outstanding Graduate Soloist by DownBeat Magazine, and he has also participated and performed in the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Academy, Global Music Education League Symposium, and the Jazz Education Network conference.
