Dating is hard for everyone. Neurodiversity sometimes makes it even harder. As a BCBA with experience, let's put speed dating to the test!!
About this Event

This event was created to start an opportunity in the South FL area to give adults on the spectrum a chance to take advantage of a safe space to practice their dating skills, meet new people, and screen other neurodiverse adults to see if they had a romantic connection.

The purpose of the event is to create opportunities for Adults with ASD & Neurodivergent to

  • practice dating skills in real life
  • receive feedback on their social skills and interpersonal skill education
  • meet other people
  • have fun and socialize (virtually or in-person, if possible)

This event would be for adults ages 20-35, on the Autism Spectrum/Neurodiverse. Our dates will be 1:1 matches, and while the event is a safe space for imperfect social skills, we expect a degree of independence of communication.

On the day of, there will be a 10 minute warm up, 10 minute dates with each participant, 5 minutes break in between to take notes, and then a 10 minute debrief at the end. There will be facilitators throughout the event (mostly people who have worked with the nuerodivergent community in the past), to provide feedback on their dating and conversation skills. The host will ensure that everyone moves around the room and has an opportunity to speak with all attendees. If you’d like to see someone again you simply check their name on the match card, and the host will email you the next day with contact details of the people you matched with (if they checked you too).

Lastly, we will be having our event at Our Grounds in Miami, FL. They are a non-profit organization that runs a coffee shop in a facility that provides vocational training, education and employment opportunities to adults with intellectual and cognitive disabilities. Participants are required to sign-up and pre-register for this non-profit event.
