At Inner Spark, we view dating is an opportunity for personal growth.
We are for those who know all good things begin from within and are ready for a fun, lightheared way to meet other self-aware daters.
The thought of speed dating certainly moves us outside our comfort zone, but here's is the total truth: speed dating really breaks the ice and is a major confidence booster. It was true for me and I have learned through theses events, it is true in general. Every part of me believes you will leave feeling better than when you came in.
Why I Chose Speed Dating, Personally
When I decided I wanted to date, I chose speed dating because no part of me wanted to make a profile and have an overwhelmed inbox.
No part of me wanted to message back and forth, only to realize quickly upon meeting, this person is not for me.
I simply wasn’t going to go this route, despite the well-meaning advice from people around me that online dating was “the only way.”
I decided that for me dating would feel interesting, enjoyable, and easily manageable.
I created a program of speed dating for myself, attending an event once a month. This decision proved positive for me.
Not only was I meeting single men on a regular basis, I was growing in confidence. I had entered the dating scene and I had did so with control, intention, and integrity.
I was building my confidence through conscious dating.
We’re All Nervous
Most everyone is nervous when they first attend speed dating.
Nerves are normal, but they are also likely to give way to energy and invigoration.
As one speed dater, Sue, put it,
“You have to have faith in yourself. You can walk away afterwards — you have nothing to lose. You’re chatting with men and women who are basically in the same situation.”
Lauren, speed dater, said,
“Everyone I met was really nice. I was struck by how comfortable it was chatting with people in that setting. I would like to be able to do it again. It was definitely a new experience, like an adventure."
We’re All Growing
Think about it — every person you meet and every date you go on reveals a little more about who you are and what you’re looking for. Each interaction, whether it’s a heartwarming conversation or an awkward moment, contributes to your personal growth.
Dating pushes us out of our comfort zone. Dating helps us discover new facets of ourselves and what matters to us.
Speed dater, Lilian, noticed,
“It completely flipped my mindset on dating. It was such a good experience, it gave me the confidence to get back out and have the right intention.”
Ben, speed dater, remarked,
“I definitely don’t think that all the speed dating events out there would be for me. You’ve got to pick one that seems like it would have like-minded people. I hope the perception of speed dating emerges as something that revolves around simply having a fun time out.”
Here’s What To Expect
When you arrive (allow yourself plenty of time to park and come inside) I will greet you with a name tag and a drink ticket. This drink ticket is good for a drink of your choice - a glass of wine, a cocktail, a beer, a soft drink or a glass of juice.
Swing by the “Spark Conversation” table for a light-hearted quick craft to do, designed to support the flow of conversation on your mini-dates.
On the mini-dates, men and women will sit across from one another at tables. Each pair will have six minutes to talk to one another. There will be a chime, and then men will move to the next table, where the new pair will have an opportunity to talk.
*Remember, there’s no need to put pressure on yourself. It’s not about finding the one in one night. Focus on having relaxed conversation and getting to know the person in front of you.*
If you enjoyed your interaction with someone you met and would like to speak with them again, mark 'yes' on your choice card.
The next day, you will receive an email with the contact information (name, phone number, and email) for mutual matches.
A mutual match = you indicated 'yes' on your choice card and they indicated 'yes' to you on theirs.
Showing up to speed dating takes courage, but it is worth the effort!
