About this Event
Coffee is the second most consumed beverage in the world. Loved and addictive, it is also one of the most complex beverages. In this workshop, we are going to take a journey from the seed to the cup.
The main objective of this workshop Is to introduce you to the world of specialty coffee. The second objective is to learn how to taste, describe and analyze a cup of coffee.
The coffee tasting consists of 8 tasting cups on 4 flights for total caffeine content of 2 cups. The coffee will be brewed manually using a pour-over. Sweeteners are available.
Flight 1: we will start by tasting 3 different origins side by side where I'll introduce the coffee plant, terroir, and farming practices.
Flight 2: for the next flight, we will taste the same coffee processed in 2 different methods: washed vs. natural. We will also pair them with fruits to enhance some notes.
The second part of the workshop will be focused on coffee making and the sensory experience.
Flight 3: I will introduce 2 different home brewing methods using the same coffee to show how we can modulate the different attributes of a coffee. We will also learn about ratios, grind size, water chemistry, and techniques.
Flight 4: finally, we will end up with the last coffee, a rare edition lot consumed in two different glasses to highlight the importance of the overall coffee experience.
