Brain injuries affect over 300,000 people a year in this country, without rehabilitation people are not given the best chance of recovery, return to work and rely on benefits; The levels of ABI amongst those in the justice systems and homeless people are incredibly high. The risk of requiring depression and longer term dependancy on health and social services is greater.
Livability Icanho have been a provider of specialist ABI rehabilitation for over 25 years and will host this event to highlight brain injury, the impact of a hidden disability and the importance and benefits of specialist acquired brain injury rehabilitation.
Please join us from 10.30am to tour our purpose built facilities and meet our interdisciplnary thearpy team which includes Psychology, speech and language therapy , occupational therapy and physiotherapy, and a specialist social worker. They will be explaining and demonstrating what specialist ABI rehabilitation is and the importance of the therapy team working together with clients and families.
Specialist equipment demonstrations - In the Gym Bioness Vector body weight management system , Cutting edge virtual reality movement rehabilitation 'NeuroVirt' demonstrations and opportunity to try out.

Introduction by Chloe Hayward UKABIF executive director - The importance and value of rehabilitation and work nationally.
The impact of a brain injury, hidden disability and the importance of being understood as told by clients of Icanho and their families - through live speakers and video.
Improving brain injury education in social work, Caroline Bald MSW FHEA Lecturer in Social Work at University of Essex will tell us about this interesting research and 'The Heads Together' project.
The value of specialist interdisciplinary rehabilitation and Icanho model. Julie O’Brien clinical lead at Icanho reflects on 27 years of working with the service.
