What appears to be an adrenaline-fuelled hobby is, in truth, a lifeline. Beneath the surface, the darkness offers freedom, a way to release the pressures of everyday life and reset.
Filmed over two years, this deeply personal project explores far more than mine exploration. It is a story about the importance of community and the quiet battles of men’s mental health. In these hidden tunnels, the Crew find solace, understanding and the strength of belonging.
As group leader, Pat Moret, reflects in the film:
“The shared experience we all have together is something that men have done for hundreds and hundreds of years… They’ll go hunting together, they’ll go out on a boat together, they’ll go to war together. It’s a need to feel a part of something.”
