About this Event
The development of contemporary jewelry in Korea can be considered to have begun in the 1980s, mostly through metal artists who had returned home from studying abroad and were now professors at various universities in Korea training students in both metalwork and jewelry in with both emerged as an independent field. A curriculum built around technique has led contemporary Korean jewelers to establish the standard "well made" work, globally recognized as the greatest virtue of Korean jewelry. International trends caused artists to discover their own unique materials, extending boundaries and diversity of contemporary jewelry. This exhibition gives the viewer an amazing insight in the unique Korean esthetic, eye for detail and symbolism.
