In 1976, Jeff Daniels bought a Guild D-40 guitar from Herb David’s Guitar Studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and moved to New York City. That guitar became a creative outlet, leading him to discover a hidden talent for songwriting. Over 40 years later, Daniels continues to write, sing, and perform. Since 2000, he has played at notable venues like The Birchmere, Club Passim, and New York City’s Birdland, touring nationwide with his son’s Ben Daniels Band.
Daniels has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Lyle Lovett, John Hiatt, and Bruce Hornsby. In 2012, the Martin Guitar Company introduced the OM Jeff Daniels Custom Artist Edition Guitar, and he narrated the award-winning documentary The Ballad of the Dreadnought. Inspired by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lanford Wilson, Daniels has combined his passion for songwriting, creating a distinctive artistic voice.
