About this Event
In honor of Veteran’s Day, visit Union Cemetery on November 8 and join UCHS Board Member Dan Stilley as he leads you on a special tour showcasing Union Cemetery’s Civil War history. Contrary to popular belief owing to its name, Union cemetery is not a military cemetery. However, many Civil War veterans rest here, as well as other figures who were involved in the Civil War. Learn about the cemetery’s connection to the Civil War as Dan takes you on a tour spanning the battlefields of Virginia to the deadly Missouri-Kansas Border War.
Please note, this tour spans the terrain of the cemetery, much of it “off-road” from the main cemetery roads. Please be aware of your footing and wear comfortable shoes. It is not a strenuous walk, but not as flat as following the paved roads.
