Simone Jordan discusses her book Tell Her She’s Dreamin: a memoir for ambitious girls - a rallying call for anyone who dreams big and a deeply personal story of family, culture and music from Australia's most successful hip-hop journalist.

Simone will be joined in conversation by R & B artist Billymaree.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:

SIMONE AMELIA JORDON is Australia's most successful hip-hop journalist. She has contributed to The Source, VIBE, Rolling Stone, ABC and SBS, and her celebrity interviews have notched over 13 million YouTube views. Simone founded and edited Australia’s highest-selling rap/R&B newsstand title, Urban Hitz magazine. In 2021, Simone won the Richell Prize for Emerging Writers. She mentors the next generation of multicultural talent through her work with Media Diversity Australia and Diversity Arts Australia, and is resolute about hip-hop’s power to change the world. Tell Her She’s Dreamin’ is her first book.

BILLYMAREE is a 24 year old creative originally from Mount Druitt in Sydney’s West and is of Samoan descent. Having lived some of her later teen years in the cities of Brisbane and Los Angeles, Billymaree has accumulated a range of experiences which have aided her greatly in navigating the systems, environments and relationships which can enmesh themselves within creative industries. Being a multidisciplinary artist, Billymaree shares her story through the exploration of music and visual arts; she endeavours to move through this world as a mind opener, healer and an advocate for truth.
