We've moved our monthly meetings! We will now be meeting in the Health Sciences Building at Nunnally Hall. We are also now meeting earlier, from 6:30pm-7:30pm. This room accommodates a hybrid Zoom presentation, which will allow members and interested folks to stream all monthly speaker series live, virtually! Signs will help lead the way to the new building. You may park off Mariner Way near the Conference Center, then walk north towards the building. We will be in Room 101.Lauren Gingerella, From Fairways to Forests: Assessing the Wildlife Community Response to Habitat Restoration Techniques
This talk explores how habitat restoration, through longleaf pine management and the rewilding of a former golf course, shapes bird and bat communities in the Southeastern U.S. Lauren will share the goals, methods, and early observations from ongoing fieldwork that evaluates bird and bat responses to these conservation strategies. Her research aims to inform how restoration can be leveraged to support biodiversity on both natural and previously developed lands.
Lauren Gingerella is a Certified Wildlife Biologist and PhD Candidate in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia. Her research focuses on how land use change and habitat restoration affects wildlife in the Southeastern U.S. She is passionate about applying science to real-world conservation efforts and engaging with land managers to promote biodiversity.
