Much of life on Earth is connected by a vast, hidden network that we are only just beginning to understand. Out of sight, between the world of plants and animals, another world exists - the kingdom of fungi. These organisms are not only vital to forest ecosystems but are the puppet masters of all life on Earth. Understanding how fungus functions within the soil provides important insight on the impact on our urban forest. Join us for a presentation on Georgia mushrooms and everything fungi.
About the Speaker: Sam Landes is a former Montessori teacher and the current treasurer of the Mushroom Club of Georgia and the foray committee chair for the North American Mycological Association (NAMA). He enjoys giving presentations to garden clubs, master naturalist classes and school groups. The Mushroom Club of Georgia is an educational, social and outdoor-oriented organization with a mission to promote the study of all aspects of the fungal world, including foraging and identifying wild mushrooms, cultivating edible and medicinal mushrooms, making art using fungi and exploring the ways fungi interact with our environment.
