About this Event
The Odyssey: Two Journeys Home
Dr. Travillian will continue his lecture series on Ancient Epic in the NCA curriculum by speaking on The Odyssey. One of the central problems of The Odyssey is what it means to "be a man." Odysseus, through trials and suffering, returns from being a warrior at Troy to a man and husband on Ithaca. At the same time, his son Telemachus must go on his own journey to transition from boyhood and mature into a man worthy of succeeding Odysseus as king. In 45 minutes, Dr. Travillian will consider both of those journeys and what we might take away from them for our own lives.
