This is how leadership is built. At our last youth group, Nylah didn’t just attend.
She paid attention.
She felt the room.
And on her way out, she asked a powerful question:
“Can I create a teen poetry night?”
That question is the seed of our Youth Ambassador Program.
This Open Mic and Poetry Night was not assigned to her.
She asked for it.
She is doing the outreach.
She is shaping the vision.
She is putting in the work.
My role is mentorship, guidance, and support.
Her role is ownership.
This is exactly what we want for our youth.
Not just participation, but leadership.
Not just showing up, but stepping up.
Not just consuming spaces, but creating them.
This is what DRE’S Safe Place is building.
A place where young people are trusted, supported, and empowered to lead in ways that matter.
And this is just the beginning.
If your teen wants to attend the Open Mic & Poetry Night and speak their mind, they should be there because:
They need a safe space to say what they really feel.
They need a mic instead of silence.
They need confidence that comes from being heard.
They need connection with other teens who get it.
This is for teens ages 13-17 who want to express themselves out loud or through poetry.
Share with a youth in your life or whom you may know. Tell them to bring a friend and come as they are.
Spots are limited.
