I’m creating this event to help get the word out and encourage people to show up in force at New Braunfels Municipal Council regarding the proposed rezoning along Highway 46.This project would rezone land from agricultural to residential to allow 135 new homes. The Planning Commission voted 4–3 to move it forward, and while that wasn’t final approval, it does mean City Council will be taking it up next.
The current date is February 23, but that is subject to change. I’ll be keeping a close eye on it and will update everyone here if anything shifts.
A lot of residents have serious concerns that deserve real answers, including:
* Traffic and safety on SH-46, which is not planned to be expanded
* Flooding and drainage issues in the area
* Water supply concerns, especially with record-low levels
* Emergency access and fire safety
* Existing sewage issues nearby that still haven’t been resolved
* Protecting recharge zones and preserving the Hill Country
* Increased strain on utilities and higher costs for residents
This isn’t about being anti-growth. It’s about making sure growth makes sense and doesn’t come at the expense of safety, water, and quality of life.
If you care about where New Braunfels is headed, please consider showing up, staying informed, and making your voice heard.
