“A man is gold; a woman is a white cloth.”This old Cambodian proverb claims men can be polished clean, while women—once “stained”—are ruined forever. The Speak Out Sisters (SOS) project flips that belief on its head. Since 2024, SOS has worked with extraordinary survivors of gender-based violence: elders who endured the Khmer Rouge years, hunger, and loss—and younger women navigating digital scams, online abuse, and a new generation of threats.
Now SOS invites you to a bold art and photo exhibition celebrating two years of fearless storytelling and feminist resistance. In partnership with Meta House Phnom Penh and Phare Ponleu Selapak Battambang, the project has united artists, activists, survivors, and students through theatre, intergenerational dialogues, film production, school-yard exhibitions, and more.
Art on display: Kchao Touch, Vodka, Anya Minko, Solly Rath, Christopher Morris Bryce, Tim Page and many others.
Join us—and stand with the sisters who refuse to stay silent.
