“Rhett Ruppenthal was born early due to PPROM and undiagnosed chorioamnionitis at 23 weeks and 3 days old weighing 1lb 4 oz and 12 inches long with only a 10% chance of survival. After many scary days in the NICU at University of Maryland in Baltimore and us driving 2 hours each way almost every single day, We were finally discharged after 115 days after having 3 surgeries prior to being discharged. After being discharged and still to the day we have many doctors appointments almost weekly such as ophthalmology, pulmonology, pediatrician, physical therapy, and Cardiology. Cardiology is following Rhett very closely because he has an ASD that has yet to close and the right side of his heart is enlarged. If we are unable to get both or either fixed by medication he will need heart surgery. Just recently Rhett was diagnosed with RSV and needed to be transferred by helicopter from War memorial back down to University of Maryland. We spent 3 days admitted and now home still recovering.”
“Memphis Frey is are precious little girl, born December 5th 2024 prematurely due to growth restrictions. Memphis has a bilateral cleft lip and palet that will require multiple surgeries over a period of time. Two surgeries within the first year of her life. She also has chromosome disorder called tetrasomy 10p which could cause other problems, but so far there not seeing any concerns with that. We will have multiple trips to Morgantown to meet with her surgeons and doctors along with her surgeries. It will be a financial strain on my little family due to Myself having to take off work so I can be there every step of the way.”
