Join Mary in the her fight against breast cancer.we will be holding a benefit together help raise money for Mary Shramek to help cover bills and other things while she is undergoing her chemo treatments for brest cancer.
Dinner will include Spaghetti, dinner salad and brownies for desert.
We will also having a Silent Auction, Bake Sale, 50/50 Raffle and Bingo.
we will have a band playing.
For those that are not aware, Mary Bruce Shramek went for a routine mammogram on Tuesday 08/12/2025 with a growing, suspicious mass in her left breast. By Thursday 08/14/2025, she was in for ultrasound and biopsy that same day. On the following Tuesday evening the biopsy results were in – Grade 3 Ductal Carcinoma. By Wednesday at 1:30, Mary, Rick and Crystal were sitting at Hall Perrine Cancer Center meeting her medical oncologist team (Dr. Stroh, Nicole and Liz – who are all AMAZING I might add)! This team has true compassion!! A rapid growing tumor that is hormone and HER2 negative making this Triple Negative Breast Cancer, meaning limited treatment options. The appointment felt like a blur; Mary will have to undergo a total of 24 weeks of chemo along with immunotherapy, this will be pumped through her vessels before a surgical operation is performed. How is Mary doing? Scared. Anxious. Frustrated. How’s Rick? Scared. Anxious. Frustrated. How are their kids doing? Scared. Anxious. Frustrated. Just Why? An Answer I am sure asked by every person and their families. This is what we know – we know we have a huge support system; YOU, in Mary's corner. YOU can help us fight with her, for her.
We are so thankful for everyone who has reached out with supportive words, tips, tricks, and energy to fill what energy we don’t have right now.
Mary has worked for Prairie for 28 years now as of the start of this school year. She had a recent surgery on her back towards the end of last school year which made her miss work for an extended time. Now with this new battle to fight breast cancer there are some unknowns about her continuing employment with the school due to that recent surgery and her overall health during her chemo treatments.
We are trying to put this benefit together to help Mary and Rick out with finances so if she isn't able to work they at least have the money from the benefit to fall back on to cover bills and other expenses. Please help if you can and continueto pray that she willwin this battle.
There will be more information to come about the Spaghetti Benefit Supper that we are having on 11/15/2025 @ 4:00 PM to ??? At the Swisher American Legion.
