Support Needed for Eric Serros & Brandi Wheeler – Please Read!Save the Date! Spaghetti Dinner Benefit

Dear Friends and Community,
We are reaching out to rally support for a wonderful family in need. On November 23, we will hold a spaghetti dinner at the Hobart VFW to benefit Eric Serros, a devoted father of four who is currently battling Multiple Myeloma Cancer.
A Bit of Eric’s Story:
In December 2023, Eric began experiencing severe back pain. After multiple visits to the doctor, he was diagnosed with a fractured spine, leading to an alarming discovery: his spine was collapsing. Following emergency surgery and further testing at the University of Chicago, he received a heartbreaking diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma Cancer—a disease that affects the bone marrow and currently has no cure.
Since then, Eric has undergone rigorous treatment, including chemotherapy, radiation, and daily medication. He is now reliant on a wheelchair and in-home care, provided by his life partner Brandi and his mother. Eric’s is in a lot of pain and has a very long road ahead, but the family has faith in God and knows that it ultimately is in God’s hands.
Prior to his illness, Eric was the primary provider for his family. He has been with local 41 for over 20 years. With him unable to work, Brandi has stepped up as both caretaker and financial provider, while also preparing for an upcoming stem cell transplant in Indianapolis. This will require her to take significant time off work, adding to the family’s financial strain.
How You Can Help:
Join us for a delicious spaghetti dinner to show Eric and his family the love and support they deserve:
Dinner Plates: $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and just $10 for VFW members. There will be a bake sale, raffles, a 50/50 along with some music.
Donation Jars: If you can’t attend, donation jars will be available at the Hobart VFW during regular business hours (Mon-Sat, 10 AM - 12 AM).
Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference. If enough people come together to help, it can truly add up to something significant.
Let’s come together as a community to support the Serros family during this challenging time. Your kindness can bring hope and relief to a family that has given so much to others.
