Info: A brief introduction of the Ampang Jaya Backyard Project will provide an overview of the Small Grants Programme (SGP) and their role in creating community-driven conservation models for the environment. This will include the familiarisation of The Backyard as an area within RUGS, the Rantaian Urban Green Spaces landscape, whose initiative is to enhance urban green areas and ecological corridors.

Other issues to be highlighted will include the various methods that were adopted in mobilising the project. We are pleased to share how we have harnassed technology to enable cross-agency coordination, enabling the mapping of hotspots and wildlife routes within the area, the monitoring of the ecosystem and the introduction of citizen science towards creating community empowerment. Within this realm is evidence that community mobilisation and the conservation of the forest and preservation of wildlife can exist.

Hence the need to discuss measures in ensuring continuity of the projects mission

The assembling of practical corporate strategies to necessitate the integration of biodiversity within their framework will be an asset. By exploring the options and possibilities for corporate partnership we will be able to gain leverage in our efforts for forest conservation.
