"Spaces and places"
As counsellors, we are interested in people's life stories.
They can serve as a source of strength for dealing with difficult life situations.
A life story begins in childhood and develops over the course of a person's life.
It is not enough to look at life stories only from a temporal perspective.
People construct their life stories in dialogue with certain spaces and places. These dimensions are at the centre of our seminar.
At the same time, we ask ourselves where the counsellors themselves are localised.
When they work for an organisation, they occupy a certain structural position within that organisation.
Their structural position within their faith tradition also plays a role in their (professional/voluntary) practice.
Counsellors and the people they accompany are localised in certain networks.
These networks can have an intercultural and interreligious character.
Virtual networks also play a role in finding identity.
What role can counsellors play in networks?
Another topic is people's freedom of movement.
What does one's own migration history look like, was it free or forced? How do counsellors deal with such experiences?
How can the movement from one place to another be interpreted spiritually?
Some places have a positive emotional charge, can have a sacred character, can enable experiences of community.
Other places can remind us of grief, parting, confusion or violence.
How do pastoral workers bring the different places into a dialogue?
The whole of creation, the cosmos, is a space in which we can localise ourselves.
How can counsellors strengthen this kind of localisation so that a connection to nature can be found?
Finally, we also want to explore where exactly counsellors should be localised so that they can reach the people who need their support.
And how do counsellors create a space where people can express themselves in a safe setting?
