As we step into a new year, we invite you to come and reflect on 2023 and envision what you hope your 2024 will look like.
About this Event

*Please note: This event is for people who identify as LGBTQIA+ and as Black / a Person of Colour.

Join us on fresh in the New Year for some intentional journalling and moodboarding to help us reflect and learn from 2023, and look forward to 2024.

We understand the pressure of reinventing yourself and making big resolutions for a new year, so instead of pressuring yourself to change your life, we recommend small, tangible steps that will help you to bring more positive actions into your life. This will be a safe space to think about what these might be and how to do it.

Whether you have a goal to make more friends, get a new job or connect more with nature - no matter how small or grand your plans are for the year ahead, it can be helpful to visualise this and have a moodboard remind yourself of what you want to achieve.

We will provide the paper, pens, collaging materials etc. and some prompts to help you reflect.

There will also be tea and (vegan) snacks for brain fuel!

Important information

When you arrive at the Dream Machine please ring the white bell at the door, someone will then let you into the space.

There are a couple of small steps to access the room - the staff can assist you with access and provide a ramp if you need this, just let them know on entry.

Please cancel your ticket if you are no longer able to attend, we ask that you do this 48-24 hours before hand so that we can plan accordingly.

About Space to Be

Space to Be is a 12-month project that we are delivering with cultural education organisation Parhelia CIC.

It was created to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation that can come with being a part of multiple marginalised communities. We believe that communities are a unit of resilience - and that together we are stronger, which is why wanted to create a Space to Be ourselves and explore our identities in a safe way.

The project is for people (16+) identifying as QTIPOC+ (Queer/ Trans/ Intersex / LGBT+, People of Colour) living in Glasgow, and will focus on creativity as a way to learn more about ourselves and each other, finding new ways to express who we are. By exploring self-expression in this way and seeing ourselves represented we can begin to accept the different parts of our identities and mend the tensions between our culture and identity.

Workshops will be every 2-3 weeks, between May and November 2023 with a focus on film, writing and art, featuring local QTIPOC+ creatives who will help to guide our journey.

After these creative workshops we will continue to meet for open creative sessions where we can have a relaxed space to hang out and create together!
