About this Event
This New Year’s Eve, Soho cocktail establishment The Thin White Duke will be transformed into a Japanese Ryokan, inspired by Bowie’s own adventures through his favourite country.
Throughout the evening, revellers will be invited to preview the very latest concoctions from our newest menu, due to launch in early 2025. ‘Vol IV - Kansai’ celebrates the work of Japanese fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto who created some of Bowie's most iconic costumes, perhaps most famously, the ‘Space Samurai’. Yamamoto's designs were inspired by the extraordinary beauty, colour and forms of birds, so in turn our cocktails - designed by our master mixologist Dav Eames - are named after Japanese birds. Drinks will include the ‘Hachi Dori’ - a floral and delicate gin highball combining the subtle sweetness of stone fruits with a touch of minerality, the 'Uguisu’ - a tempting whirl of gin, ginger, yuzu, spiced honey and pickled pineapple with a final punchy kick of Shichimi pepper, and the ‘Kiji’ - a magical combination of matcha, raspberry and absinthe, finished with an elegantly sparkling Hojicha tea. Once they’ve quenched their thirst, guests may be tempted by an abundant feast of Japanese delicacies, including crispy Tiger Prawn tempura, sizzling yakitori, truffle Harumaki and freshly steamed gyoza.
Dance the night away ‘like some cat from Japan’ to an epic curated soundtrack from the Thin White Duke Studios’ in-house DJ. Tickets are priced at £50 per person and include entry to the party, an omakase feast, a welcome drink and a glass of champagne to toast the New Year. All attendees will be sent a traditional Origami crane, which grants you admission to the event. Costume required for entry with prizes for best-dressed. We strongly encourage you to bring your most ravishing self.
