Our AGM will be held on Tuesday, September 24th from 9:30am. The theme this year relates to community-led impact. With the specific view of integrating and encouraging all members of the community to participate in vital projects, sharing ideas and initiatives that will transform their areas, instilling the power to communities on where funds are best spent and bringing residents together to continue the improvement and development of their areas.

It will offer a variety of perspectives shared by a handful of funded projects and also the views of a leading organisation that is involved in educating Scottish organisations on the principles of community development.

At the AGM we will hear from a selection of projects that have been awarded a grant through the Community Benefit Fund who will each share their journey, learnings and future plans. Over 100 projects have been funded by our Community Benefit Fund since it was established in 2017. The projects that have been supported are wide-ranging but demonstrate the very best of community understanding and development ranging from mental health support groups, employability schemes, accessible playparks, community festivals, food hubs, and community gardens alongside other vital community initiatives. They each share one collective goal which is to accelerate the regeneration of places and help people reconnect.

Attendees will also hear from the leading body for community development in Scotland who actively inform Scottish Government policy, collaborate with public sector organisations and community groups to work effectively with communities and to widen participation in local democracy. They work to a vision of an active, inclusive and just Scotland where communities are strong, equitable and sustainable.

This invitation is open to our public sector partners. Alongside valuable discussions around community impact, you will hear about our performance for 2023/24, what’s on the horizon for SPA and the group and our future direction.
