A spectacular 7 to 8 mile country walk starting and finishing in the pretty village of Southwick. This walk will leave Southwick and head towards Fort Nelson, one of the Portsdown Hill forts. A quick stop can be made here for a cup of tea and to take in the views across the Solent. From there, we head north on the Allan King Way and head through the hamlet of Boarhunt. Here we will pass the amazing yew tree in the churchyard which is one of the oldest recorded trees in England at approximately 1000 years old.
From Boarhunt we stay on paths through fields and woods and loop back north and east towards Southwick. We follow a small part of the old roman road from Portchester to Winchester before striking across the fields to eventually come back into Southwick from the north.
This walk is very varied, with woods, lanes, open fields and spectacular views. It will be dog friendly although there may be livestock in some of the fields. Further details of the likely conditions underfoot will be posted closer to the date of the walk.
The start will be at the Golden Lion in Southwick. The post code is PO17 6EB
There is a village car park right behind the pub.
The walk is £10 per person. To book your slot please visit www.meontrails.co.uk
