The Southwest High School Jazz Combo is an auditioned combo that is primarily student-run, facilitated by Reid Wixson, the director of Instrumental Music at Minneapolis Southwest High School. The group rehearses 2-3x a week before school. The group does their own arrangements and selects their own charts to prepare for several engagements throughout the year. Members also play with the Southwest Jazz One, are also a part of the Minnesota Youth Jazz Bands (MYJB) and some are members of the Minnesota All-State Bands.
