The Southland Symphony Orchestra and Chorus is pleased to present our 2024-2025 Season Opening concert, under the direction of Music Director and Conductor, Dr. Sylvia Lee Mann.
We're excited to open our season with a concert in Beautiful, Historic, Bethel Congregational Church. 536 N Euclid Ave, Ontario CA 91762
The concert will feature new works by living composers, as well as an appearance by a young conductor (winner of the 23-24 Season Finale Conducting prize).
Our Program includes Fauré's “Cantique de Jean Racine” and “Requiem”, Op. 48, with soloists Coril Prochnow, soprano and Michal Dawson Connor, baritone, as well as the “Elegie” for Cello and Orchestra, with soloist Jocelyn Francis, our principal cellist, and featuring student conductor Adam Timney.
Also on the Program - The World Premiere of "Daring Voyage", by composer and SSO violinist Noah Cisneros; and “The Heavenly Country” for Cello and Strings, by Michal Dawson Connor, again featuring principal cellist Jocelyn Francis.
Parking is available on nearby streets, and there is a parking behind the church (entrance on F St.) Sometimes there is also parking available just south of the church in the lot between E and F Streets (on the east side of Euclid). More public lots are available on the west side of Euclid, behind the businesses (a short walk across the street).
Get your tickets early (these events sometimes fill up!). There will be limited availability at the door.
