Southern Rounds Presents: An Evening with Phillip Lammonds live at Analog in Nashville. After penning more than 4,000 songs including hits with Lee Brice, Hootie & The Blowfish, and more, Phillip sits in the artist's chair! Performing songs from his upcoming debut album Cowboy Things, he will be joined onstage by some very special guests along with Host Dave Kennedy.
Phillip Lammonds, a North Carolina native, started his career with the homespun Americana roots group, The Blue Dogs. Transitioning to South Carolina in the '90s, he began frequenting Nashville for regular writing sessions. By 2017, Lammonds had made Music City his full-time home, writing an impressive 150 songs annually. In the process, he evolved into the seasoned songwriter he is today, celebrated for his poetic prowess and commercial sensibility.
Over the decades, Lammonds functioned as a behind-the-scenes hitmaker in Nashville, fashioning songs for renowned artists such as Hootie & the Blowfish ("One Love"), Lee Brice ("Best Part of Me," "My Carolina"), Craig Morgan ("Love Loves a Long Night"), and numerous others. With a remarkable catalog boasting over 4,000 songs, Lammonds reveled in the anonymity and simplicity of his role, purposefully steering clear of the spotlight.
However, a twist of fate paved the way for Phillip Lammonds' unexpected debut album, Cowboy Things, produced by his friend Lee Brice. Comprising of 11 tracks, the album not only serves as a showcase for Lammonds' insightful lyricism and flair but also features collaborations with notable artists like Darius Rucker, Pam Tillis, ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons on the lap steel, and even actor Bill Murray writing on a track. All recorded live in the rustic setting of Brice's Pumphouse Studio, the rootsy-yet-refined project captures Lammonds' genuine storytelling.
While Lammonds didn't anticipate stepping into the spotlight, Cowboy Things became an incredibly personal journey. “It’s been cathartic, and I don’t feel like it’s the last time I’m going to do it,” he says. “I think that’s the point. Worrying about what everybody thinks of me? That never mattered. But making a record is a good feeling. And I like doing it so much.”
