as a means to get their original big band music out into the world. In November 2023, they released
their first album titled "The World Will Spin". This album features as guest artists Matthew Jodrell,
Gianni Marinucci and Jordan Murray, alongside many talented up and coming musicians from
Melbourne’s music scene.
The Southbank Jazz Orchestra are very passionate about the big band tradition, and for this
performance, the band will showcase the music of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. This
performance will feature some brilliant, but rarely heard music from the suites Such Sweet Thunder
and Suite Thursday, which are interpretations of Shakespeare and John Steinbeck's literary works,
respectively.
