About this Event
Tracing the family history of Australian South Sea Islanders is fraught with many challenges, including variations in names and their spellings and finding the correct island locations from which they were taken.
Learn how to navigate some of these challenges in this presentation as we explore Australian South Sea resources and their use for family history. We will highlight unique State Library resources documenting the history of this immigrant group, the plantations where they worked and the ships that transported them to Queensland and back to the islands.
Whether you're looking into your own heritage or researching the history of Australian South Sea Islanders in Queensland, this session will help you navigate some research challenges and highlight unique State Library resources.
