About this Event
In 2019, Pembrokeshire County Council required a team of consultants to develop and deliver a scheme which would attempt to save and develop 5 dangerous, listed and /or dilapidated buildings on one common site in the historic medieval town of Pembroke.
With the development located within 50m of Grade 1 listed, Pembroke Castle, the scheme presented a significant challenge to all involved and would require a vast amount of effort and time from the whole team to help save some of the towns precious history, whilst delivering a vision set by Pembrokeshire County Council that is designed to regenerated a community, which some may say had been neglected in recent years.
From a structural perspective, the buildings and project presented major challenges in understanding their condition and reacting to the significant number of unknowns associated with the severity of the neglect that the buildings had suffered over the decades.
This talk is intended to provide an overview of the project and the condition of the buildings, the solutions employed to address their conditions and the designs developed to provide modern buildings suitable to deliver the clients vision for the site.
