The South East Arts Prize Exhibition returns with a renewed passion for all forms of contemporary art. The Prize is open to all Tasmanians and invites submissions from artists working across all mediums including ceramic, collage, drawing, painting, photography, print, sculpture, textile, video and watercolour.
To reflect the vision of South East Arts Inc, to promote the skills and creativity of local artists, we especially encourage artistic members of the community to enter the Prize to showcase the breadth of contemporary art practice and talent within the South East Region.
The Prize Exhibition will be held at Sorell Memorial Hall from Friday 14 to Monday 17 November, and will include various talks over the weekend.
Courtesy of the wonderful sponsors and supporters of South East Arts Inc, the following generous prizes will be awarded in 2025.
Major Prize – $3000 cash
Sorell Council Acquisitive Prize – $1500 value
Junior Primary Prize: $100 cash
Junior Secondary: $100 cash
Best Local Subject: $ 300 cash
Most innovative use of recycled materials: $300 cash
Judges Special Award: $300 cash
People’s Choice: $500 cash
Local artist and arts writer, Andrew Harper, will be judging the Prize in 2025.
Entries for the Prize close on Friday 31 October 2025. A non-refundable entry fee of $30 for non-members and $20 for members of South East Arts Tas Inc. is payable for up to two entries in the Prize. The entry form as well as further information can be found at southeastartsinc.org.
All entries submitted will be hung at the Exhibition and the prize winners will be announced at the Gala Opening on Thursday 13 November.
