About this Event
Love our sourdough? Have you tried making it at home but couldn’t quite get the hang of it? This is your chance to finally learn how to make and maintain a starter, mix a loaf of bread by hand, and bake the perfect loaf at home. You will learn about baker's ratios, how to adjust recipes, and how time and temperature play a role in the outcome of your bake to help you make the perfect loaf, everytime!
Students will come away from the class with their own sourdough starter, an unbaked loaf of bread to bake at home, a baked demi loaf to enjoy later in the week, and an instructional pamphlet and recipes to keep you inspired.
The class will provide light beverages and snacks, including cheese, charcuterie, and jams to enjoy with some freshly baked bread. This class is perfect for beginners or folks who have made a couple loaves of bread already but want to get a better understanding of the process.
About our Baker: Evan’s love for food started during his childhood in St. Louis, Missouri, where he learned to cook from his Filipino mom and bake with his grandma. He worked in kitchens in between coursework for a Psychology degree, but ultimately he fell in love with the grain. He came to Carnation Farms via the Herbfarm and DERU Market. He strives to ensure his baking practices match our regenerative mission and that you can taste the difference in our loaves.
