Sourdough Class with Kim's Cooking Creations at Old World Olive Co.

Cost: $60 per person
Dive into the art and science of sourdough breadmaking in this fully hands-on workshop. Each student will build and shape their own dough to take home and bake later, using Kim’s signature San Francisco sourdough starter provided in class. You’ll learn how to care for your starter, understand dough hydration and fermentation, and leave with the skills and confidence to continue baking long after class ends.
While dough is rising, enjoy fresh sourdough samples paired with our premium oils and vinegars. Guests will also receive 10% off in-store purchases during the event, plus automatic entry into a $20 Old World Olive Co. gift card raffle.
Recipes are included for everyone to take home.
What to Bring
(2) 16.9 oz bottles of water (room temperature, unchlorinated if possible)
1 medium plastic mixing bowl
750g bread flour
18g salt or kosher salt
Digital kitchen scale (must measure in grams)
Wooden or plastic spoon
Pen & paper
What You'll Learn
Starter Care: Reviving, maintaining, and storing your San Francisco starter
Dough Making: Autolyse, proper gluten development, and mixing technique
Fermentation: Bulk rise vs. proofing, temperature control, timing
Shaping & Scoring: Building oven spring and designing a beautiful loaf
Baking at Home: Steam creation, temperature management, troubleshooting
Please arrive 30 minutes early to browse the store, get checked in, and set up your station. Make sure to bring all items listed in the “What to Bring” section, as they are required to participate.
