About this Event
This is a very hands on class. The only dumb questions are those that you don't ask. Maria Viens, owner and baker of Breads at Nestings has offered her expertise in teaching a sourdough class right here at NBB. This is a learning environment where everyone of all skill levels are welcome! You will learn several topics in this class:
What is sourdough starter? How do I take care of it?
Terms like "initial mix", stretch and fold techniques, fermentation, proofing.
You will be given a jar of starter, we will learn about quality of flours, salts, olive oils and other necessary ingredients.
You will be given a proof basket, and leave with a loaf of bread to be fermented in your refridgerator overnight. The following morning, you will have coffee with Maria via zoom to finish your bread, and ask any questions! You do not need to be present for the entire zoom or any of it at all if you feel comfortable after class the previous afternoon, however she will make herself available from 8am-9:30 for you to chat, look at your bread and send you on your way with a beautiful loaf of homemade sourdough!
