In this class, you will learn all about making sourdough bread, how to feed your sourdough starter, how to keep it alive, how to discard, how to measure out the ingredients, how to stretch and fold, how to bulk ferment, how to shape/score your loaves, how to bake your loaves! This is an all day hands-on class where you do all the work!!!
This is NOT a show and tell class!
Sourdough bread making is a long process, it starts the night before by feeding the starter and in most cases it ends the next day after a long cold ferment (we will skip the long cold ferment for this class!)
The bulk fermentation takes hours when you do not do anything actively with the bread but wait. When I make bread for my family, I always use this time to make some sourdough cookies/muffins/scones, or even some soft cheese. If you want to use this down time to make something, please chose below to add a secondary class to this class. Class will be chosen on site depending on interest.
You will take home:
-the bread you baked (product of secondary class if chosen)
-small amount of sourdough starter for your future baked goods
-printed cards for recipes, information, and tips
-lots of knowledge.
Prepare to be here all day, please bring lunch or you will have time to go out to grab some lunch!
Maximum 6 people, minimum 2. Kids over 10 years are welcome with separate tickets!
